Rachael has been a physiotherapist for over 15 years, commencing her career at The Austin Hospital. She has consulted for the Alfred, Monash Medical Centre and Royal Children’s Hospital respiratory units as a Senior Clinician domiciliary physiotherapist for RDNS, prior to her role as the Coordinator of Cystic Fibrosis Services at Monash Medical Centre. Rachael lectures into the Physiotherapy Masters Program at Latrobe University, teaching Physiotherapy for Cardiothoracic Dysfunction, Person-Centered Physiotherapy, with the use of simulated patients, and Advanced Physiotherapy Practice (Professional Practice). She has a keen interest in the use of simulation for medical & allied health education. She is also a private practitioner treating patients for Hospital in the Home and Post-Acute Care for The Royal Children’s Hospital. Rachael has an interest in Cystic Fibrosis, Bronchiectasis, Asthma, COPD, lung transplantation and exercise in chronic lung disease. Physiotherapy may consist of airway clearance education & assessment, tailored exercise programs, breathing control techniques & positioning for shortness of breath, inhaler education, spirometry/peak expiratory flow, and physiotherapy support for patients whilst waiting to commence formal pulmonary rehabilitation classes within the community. You do not require a referral to see a registered physiotherapist, however a detailed medical history will be required to determine the appropriate treatment.
